The minute my phone pinged for a new email notification from Charlotte Tilbury, I knew I had to bag myself a new lippy. Instead of going crazy like I usually do and buying too many and spending god knows what, I decided to only order one, just so I can check that the lipsticks work for little old me before I purchase more. Because to be honest, the whole Hot Lips range is right up my street. As you can probably guess, the lipsticks are named after iconic women in the industry and feature 12 brand signature colours which were created in collaboration with the ladies they are named after, including; Kidman’s Kiss, Super Cindy and even Kim K even got one.
Since we’re well into summer I made an effort to pull myself away from the nude shades and went for a brighter colour.. (although, I’ll definitely be buying Very Victoria pretty soon!). This shade is the ‘Hot Emily’ shade, inspired by the beaut Emily Ratajowski, I have similar dark features so I didn’t bother going to stores and swatching as I knew I’d love it. For someone who always tries to find the best cheap alternatives for lipsticks, I’ll admit £23 made me die inside a little. However after testing my lippy I do believe every single penny is worth it. Quality aside, even the packaging is gorgeous and I really admire the detail, especially the little etched kiss mark in the lipstick. As if that wasn’t enough, this particular range donates a pound from every lipstick sold to Women For Women International.. if that doesn’t justify a splurge I don’t know what will.
LTR: Maybelline Colour Sensational in Electric Orange / Hot Lips in Hot Emily / Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in In Love With Ginger
The lipstick is described as an incredible coral colour, so I felt it would be best to swatch the lipstick in-between an orange and bright coral lipstick to show it’s true shade. The lipstick itself is a square, angled tip which mimics the shape of a lip brush and makes it effortlessly easy to apply to them awkward inner lip angles. In the description of the lipstick, it claims the lipstick is enriched with a ‘secret antioxidant’ which creates full-bodied, lasting impression lips and I completely agree. With some brighter lipsticks I’ve tried in the past with application, the colour is lost the minute you apply and takes a few coats to get that bright shade through; however with this lipstick it’s instant and the longevity is great. I wore this all day yesterday and it barely budged which I love! absolutely nothing worse than having to go to the bathroom and top up your lipstick all day.
Overall, I love the new Hot Lips collection and I can’t wait to try a few more shades as the range is so complex I love almost every colour, I’m so impressed by the pigment and a long lasting lipstick is a lipstick you need to grab hold of with both hands and never let go! Have any of you grabbed one yet? if you haven’t – go treat yo lips!
