Paris by night is an absolute must. I’ve been to Paris a couple of times but never ventured to Eiffel Tower by night and I’d never seen the tower sparkle. It’s such an amazing thing to watch and everyone around you is counting down the minutes til the tower sparkles on the hour. We climbed up to the top of the Palais de Chaillot viewpoint to get a real view which you can see in the first photo. We sat on a bench and grabbed a crepe from a nearby stall, it was perfect! Even though Paris in february is out of season, it was still as lively as you’d imagine and I’d definitely reccommend going at this time as it’s a whole lot cheaper than summer – and the weather was pretty good too!
Bonjour Mon Cheri!
This past month has been somewhat of an unintended break from blogging, the minute I got settled back into university my motivation went straight out the window. I think sometimes you need time to remind yourself why you do it / if it’s worth investing time in and if I can squeeze it into my university routine.
I’m not going to beat around the bush, I was pretty upset with my recent module grades which are probably why I’ve not had the motivation to blog as I’ve been focusing on bettering myself. But I feel like things are finally on the up! I’ve started my work experience with PunkyPins, which is an adorable pins and patch company that you should definitely check out, link here (the Stranger Things collection is amazing).
As I got ready to start my first day, I received an unexpected email from Closer Magazine offering me an intern this summer with their fashion and beauty department eek – if that’s not something to grin about I don’t know what is! I think visiting Disneyland the week before definitely worked its magic.
If you follow me on Instagram you’re more than likely going to know I visited Paris last weekend, sorry for the shameless mushy posts. As I’ve mentioned before, my boyfriend surprised me for Christmas with this little getaway as it was to celebrate our 4 year anniversary… no clue how he’s managed to cope with me for that long, I’m shocked too.
After several moments of getting lost; losing a phone, a terrifying flight and just generally a whirlwind of a weekend. I thought I’d share some of my favourite photos and highlights with you all. Apologies in advance for the crappy quality of some of these photos, I didn’t wanna drag my little Olympus around Paris with me so the next best thing was my iPhone. Be prepared for lots of strange facial expressions from yours truly as I 100% don’t photograph well under pressure ha.
First Stop: Pont des Arts Bridge
I swear I wasn’t intentionally trying to get my tattoo in the photo – I’m really not that kind of gal don’t worry haha. Before jetting off I was aware that the lovelock bridge had collapsed some time ago, but I assumed they took the locks off and replaced it with new wire. So you can imagine how upset I was to find that they’d replaced the wire with hard plastic so there was absolutely no way to place a lock on it! I’d went to the effort to buy a cute personalised lock with kittens on and I couldn’t place it anywhere so it’s still sat in my bag! I think I’m going to have to think of a nicer place to pop it on my travels. But besides that, it was such a sunny day and I don’t think I could ever get sick of Paris, it’s truly beautiful.
Next Stop: The River Seine
This isn’t something I’d usually want to share but I thought it’d be quite useful for someone who wants to visit Paris. Whilst we we’re messing around taking photos at the Louvre, we noticed someone had left a pushchair with a black backpack in it right next to us. Obviously given the recent terrorist issues with Paris we pretty much shot out of there as fast as we could. I just think it’s so important to keep your wits about you! After that ordeal (which we assume was a false alarm) we walked along the River Seine to calm our nerves. I 100% recommend you do this, our weekend was rushed because we had one day in Paris and one in Disneyland but if I was to do it again, I’d totally take a picnic to enjoy at the river bank, it’s a gorgeous view and it’s a really peaceful break from the city.
The Highlight: Paris By Night
The Treat: Disneyland Paris
Of course, what trip would be complete without a Disneyfreak like me visiting the happiest place on earth?! we deliberated going so much, but since Nathan hasn’t been before I thought it was absolutely essential for us to visit. After being totally pooped out from our long day in Paris and knowing the fireworks weren’t on til 9:30pm, we decided to go a little later than usual. This was a mistake! not realising the FastPass tickets are only available on the morning we missed our opportunity to skip a few queues. This meant we didn’t get to do much because a lot of the wait times we’re 90 minutes! But we squeezed in the main rides, stuffed our face with chocolate goodies and admired the Disney Dreams firework show at night.
Overall, it’s been a great weekend and I came back dying to visit again, I think Paris will always be my favourite place. Are any of you off to Paris soon? let me know! x
